Privacy Policy

Telari is a local Markdown reader. Your documents never leave your Mac. Telari has no user accounts, needs no network connection to read files, and does not transmit, store, or sell the content of any file you open.
To improve Telari, it collects anonymous, aggregate usage statistics by default. This contains no personal information, no document content, and no tracking, and you can turn it off at any time in Preferences. See “Anonymous usage statistics” below.
Processed locally, never transmitted
The Markdown files you open and any images or fonts they reference. They are read from disk, rendered on your Mac, and never uploaded.
Your preferences and profiles (typesetting style, recent-files list, window state), stored locally (~/.config/telari and your chosen workspace folder).
Network connections Telari makes
Telari connects to the network only in these cases, none of which carry your document content:
1. Software updates. Telari checks telari.app for new versions (via Sparkle) and asks before installing. The request reveals only what any HTTP request reveals (your IP, app version, macOS version). You can disable update checks in Preferences ▸ Updates.
2. Anonymous usage statistics — on by default, can be turned off (see below).
3. Links you click. Opening a web link, the feedback menu item, or the Privacy/License menu items launches your browser or mail client to a URL you chose. Telari itself sends nothing.
Anonymous usage statistics (on by default)
Telari collects anonymous, aggregate usage statistics by default to help us understand how many people use Telari, which versions are in the wild, and which features get used — so we can improve the app. This is to improve Telari, not to track you.
At most once a day, Telari sends exactly three things: an anonymous installation identifier (a random ID, not tied to you, your device, or your Apple ID), the app version, and the macOS version. From those we derive aggregate counts (how many installations, how many active recently) and the version distribution — that is all.
It never includes the names, paths, or contents of your documents, nor any personal information, and it does not track you across apps or websites. You can turn it off at any time in Preferences; once off, Telari sends no usage statistics at all.
Crash reports
If a crash-reporting mechanism is added, crash reports will be opt-in (or prompted) and will contain only technical diagnostics (stack traces, app/OS version) needed to fix the crash — never your document content. This section will be updated to name the provider and exact data before any such mechanism ships.
Diagnostics you send us
When you use Send Feedback (app menu), Telari opens an email draft addressed to support@telari.app, pre-filled with the app version and your macOS version. Nothing is sent until you press send, and you can edit or delete anything in the draft first.
What we receive when you contact us
If you email support@telari.app, we receive whatever you put in that email (your address, message, and any attachments you choose to include). We use it only to respond to and improve Telari.
Children
Telari is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Telari evolves (for example, when analytics or paid licensing ships). Material changes will be reflected here with a new “Last updated” date.
